For many years, Rose was an adjunct instructor at Montana State University and its offshoot, Gallatin College. There, she taught Writing, Native American Studies, and Communication; she was also a guest lecturer in seminars on Poetry and Fiction. In addition, she has developed and taught fiction-writing workshops for children, multi-genre creative writing seminars & workshops for teens, and an online poetry workshop for adults. She taught an undergraduate poetry writing workshop at Columbia University, where she was awarded a Creative Writing Teaching Fellowship.
